| The purpose of the Society is to get together with other collectors and others interested in sharing information on this famous artist. Philip Boileau (pronounced Bwa-low as in swallow) was born on June 7, 1863 (not 1864) in Quebec, Canada. He died on January 18, 1917. This information is listed on his death certificate, which is registered with the city and state of New York. The Society strives very hard to give accurate information and is constantly doing research to find legal documents and at least three sources to back up any statements that we make. We also maintain an archives which holds over 300 different Boileau images, old family photos and letters, etc. To become a member of the Society please click on the Join link above. Book News There are now two must have books for your Boileau reference. First the second revised 2008 edition of: The Philip Boileau Collector's Society - Those Dreamy Eyes: A Collector's Checklist Of Philip Boileau by Karen Gamlin and Girl Of My Dreams: A Collector's Guide To Philip Boileau by Norman Platnick and Karen Gamlin Please go to the Photo album page for links to purchase these two great, must have books! Alert! Please check out the photo album page for information on old lithographs that were renditions of original artworks. They were not originally meant to deceive, but were how early artists would learn by copying popular artist works. Usually they would add there own signature to the copied artwork. But beware, they didn't always do so! |
